Dental Implants

Dental implants are designed to provide a foundation for replacement teeth that look, feel and function like natural teeth. The person who has lost teeth regains the ability to eat virtually anything and can smile with confidence, knowing that teeth appear natural and that facial contours will be preserved.

WHAT ARE DENTAL IMPLANTS?

The implants are tiny titanium posts that are placed into the jaw bone where teeth are missing. The bone bonds with the titanium, creating a strong foundation for artificial teeth. In addition, dental implants can help preserve facial structure, preventing bone deterioration which occurs when teeth are missing.

WE ARE EXPERTS IN PLANNING, PLACING AND REHABILITATING THE MOST COMPLEX CASES IN IMPLANTOLOGY:

  • Elderly patients
  • Patients with moderate to severe bone loss
  • Patients with poorly planned prior treatment failures

Fixed Prostheses (Implant retained)

Fixed prosthesEs can replace one tooth, several or all of an arch, they can either be cemented or screwed. They are made with specific ceramics with different metal cores or structures depending on the function and aesthetics they will perform. One particular variant we often perform is the so-called hybrid prosthesis made of metal and acrylic that is similarly screwed to the implants being totally fixed and can not be removed by the patient.

All on Four and All on Six (Teeth in a day)

If you have multiple compromised teeth that are painful, loose, and/or fractured in one or both arches of your smile, doing basic things – such as biting and chewing – becomes more complicated. While removable dentures secured with oral adhesive can provide some improvements in function, implant-supported dentures offer vastly improved stability and comfort by holding your teeth in place with surgically embedded implant posts. Compared to traditional dentures, our All-On-4 or All-On-Six techniques procedure uses four or six implants that enable the “immediate load” and “immediate function” of the replacement teeth.

In fact the teeth extractions can be performed on the same day that implants are placed.

SEMI-FIXED PROTESIS SUPPORTED BY IMPLANTS (OVER DENTURES)

Also known as "overdentures", this kind of prosthetics replenishes the absences of the functional teeth of an arch and is supported by implants, can be removed by the patient and is suggested when there is less bone available and the patient does not want to undergo surgeries to replace the missing bone. They are generally acrylic with metal structure. The support mechanisms may be diverse and coupled to the implants placed; Bar retention attachments, ball retention attachments, locator type retention attachments, whether individual or bar.

The correct choice of the support mechanism is determined considering several particular aspects of each patient and the anatomical conditions and relationships of the jaws.

ADVANCED IMPLANTOLOGY (ZYGOMATIC IMPLANTS)

What Are Zygomatic Implants Exactly?

Zygomatic implants are an alternative to more traditional implants that involve drilling directly into the jawbone.  Instead of doing this, the Zygomatic implants are much longer than these traditional implants.  They are anchored in the upper jawbone, which is close to the dense zygoma bone.  This difference in location means that Zygomatic implants can provide a secure foundation for your dental implants while traditional dental implants may not be possible.  Whereas people with deteriorated jaws may not be able to receive this surgery, advancements with Zygomatic implants means it can still be possible.

How Does the Zygomatic Implants Work?

As said previously, the Zygomatic implants attach to the area of the jawbone close to the zygoma bone.  After the surgery, fixed teeth can be replaced after three days.  The common recovery time after this procedure is about four months in length.  After this time, a final restoration can be applied to completely finish the operation.  The end result is a new set of teeth in a person who up until the Zygomatic implant technology, could not have had dental implants.

How Does This Compare to Other Methods Out There?

The Zygomatic implants are seen as better in some ways then the more traditional methods.  For example, Zygomatic implants do not require bone grafts, which can take up to half a year to heal, delaying the eventual dental implants you need.  As stated before, Zygomatic implants allow people who would ordinarily have to go through a great deal of surgery to get their implants sooner.  From restoring smiles to improving chewing and speaking, having a full mouth worth of teeth is something each and every one of us deserves.  If you are thinking of dental implants but think you are not a candidate because of a lack of supporting bone, then you should consider Zygomatic implants.

TO BE CONSIDERED BEFORE STARTING A TREATMENT WITH DENTAL IMPLANTS

Dental implants as a treatment option for oral rehabilitation are currently increasingly used and with a very high percentage of long-term success.

The old picture has no comparison whatsoever at present, improved implant surfaces, and placement techniques, as well as surgical times, postoperative periods and the technology used, are completely different.

However, it is necessary to carefully evaluate each case; The professional will depend on the indication of this treatment and the choice of the best implant system.

No dental implant system can be ideal for all cases, but it should be specifically planned and chosen for each particular case.

Current surgical protocols and the implementation of new techniques have achieved a predictability rate of success and survival of dental implants greater than 95% at 25 years in healthy patients or with "controlled" systemic disorders.

In this way, dental implants offer other types of treatment advantages such as:

  • The recovery of the function more attached to the natural
  • An obvious aesthetic improvement
  • Indefinite durability
  • The faster and more convenient adaptation process
  • Comfortable oral hygiene.
