Common Dental Procedures

We all want to look our best at all times, but most of us have one thing or another that we are unhappy about. As already stated, for a large number of people, it is the appearance of their teeth that cause them the greatest amount of embarrassment. There comes a point where no amount of brushing or basic dental care can help the state of your teeth, and that is when Cute Smile comes into play. The role of an aesthetic dentist is to transform your unhappy smile into one that any major movie star would be happy to flash on the big screen.

There are a number of procedures that fall under the Cute Smile dentistry umbrella, these can run the gamut from small touch-ups to major reconstructions that change the appearance of your mouth completely. You can simply go in for a laser whitening if your teeth are stained or discolored, or you can go the opposite end of the scale and have dental implants inserted that will give you that dream smile you have been dreaming of. There are plenty of other procedures in-between, such as restorations, gum reshaping, dental crowns, and more, which means there is likely to be a Cute Smile “Grand Dental Care” dentistry procedure that perfectly fits your specific needs.

Aesthetic Dentistry

We seek to improve the qualities and effects of a smile to increase harmony and attractiveness in this.

We can modify from soft tissues such as the lip, gingiva, supporting tissues to dental tissues, allowing us to change the shape, size, position, and color of the teeth with different techniques, such as teeth whitening, veneers, or complete crowns, correcting Gingival Smile or Treatment of gingival reabsorption, etc.).

Dentures

With dental prostheses we replace missing parts and missing support tissues.

Prosthetic restorations on teeth and implants

The prosthesis on dental implants supposes the replacement of the lost teeth in the most functional and aesthetic possible way, that replaces it from the absence of a single tooth to that of all the teeth of both arches.

Periodontics

In CUTE SMILE we treat both cases of gingivitis (a disease that affects the gingiva) and periodontitis (a disease affecting dental support structures) in their different degrees.

Orthodontics

Orthodontics is a treatment that can be performed at any age, both in children and adults, as long as there are teeth in the mouth. The first revision in the orthodontist should be done at age 6, until approximately 12 - 13 years, that the patient is growing, we can guide the bones to a correct position.

Pediatric dentistry

Different scientific guilds of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that the first review with the dental specialist in the care of infants be performed between 12 and 18 months of age.

Endodontics (root canal)

Endodontics is a procedure that is performed to try to preserve a tooth when it has been damaged internally (endo) affecting the pulp or all the vascular and nerve tissue it contains, which would otherwise have to be extracted.

WHEN IS AN ENDODONTIC TREATMENT PERFORMED?

Endodontics is performed when the tooth is affected to the pulp, being necessary to remove the infected pulp and inserting a specific material perfectly into the blame chamber and the ducts, in order to seal the duct. There are different types of endodontics:

  • Unirradicular:

It affects a piece which has a single root and a single pulpal duct.

  • Biradicular:

It affects one piece with two roots and two pulp ducts.

  • Multiradicular:

It affects a part that has more than two roots and several pulp ducts

WHEN DO I NEED AN ENDODONTICS TREATMENT?

There are different symptoms that may alert us to the need for endodontics although we should always go to a specialist to assess our case. Some of these symptoms include, but are not limited to:

  • Tooth becomes discolored or darkens
  • The pain appears in front of cold or hot stimuli in a tooth with cavities
  • Trauma to the tooth or restoration from which it has not recovered

To make a proper diagnosis is essential for the exploration of a specialist.

In those cases where it is not possible to keep the tooth, we recommend the placement of a DENTAL IMPLANT.

PERIODONTICS

Periodontitis is a chronic, infectious disease caused by bacteria that habitually live in our mouth but which have grown inadequately due to the patient's individual predisposition or poor hygiene habits. The progression of the disease is cyclical, with periodic outbreaks causing the destruction of the tissues that support the tooth.

In healthy gingiva, there is a firm and stable seal around the tooth that seals the possible

The entry of bacteria into both the soft tissues and the bone around it. When periodontal disease is present, this seal becomes fragile or is lost and the bacteria along with their waste products cause inflammation of the gingival tissues and reabsorption of the bone that supports the tooth, being necessary to scrape and smooth in radicular areas To restore stability to the gingival tissue and the sealing thereof around the tooth eliminating any sign of inflammation in the tissue that supports it.

TYPES OF PERIODONTAL DISEASE

At the moment two great groups are distinguished:

  • Chronic periodontitis: It is very frequent and affects adults. Its evolution is slow since it starts until a tooth is lost can spend considerable time.
  • Aggressive periodontitis: It affects young people, is uncommon and its evolution is fast. The speed of its advance determines its gravity.

The type of bacteria and the immunological situation of the patient are determinants in the suffering of one or the other.

RISK FACTOR'S

Tobacco: Reduces the blood supply to the gingiva, which causes fewer nutrients and oxygen to reach the gingival mucosa, making the environment conducive to bacteria. In addition, cigarette smoke affects some cells of the Immune System, alters its properties and infections get worse. Patients with Gingivitis and Periodontitis should stop smoking. In addition, tobacco "hides" typical signs of periodontitis such as redness and bleeding. That is why the gingiva has an "almost healthy" appearance despite having a deep periodontal sac.

Stress: They can contribute to periodontitis that gets worse. This is due to the decline in immune defense.

Systemic diseases such as diabetes, osteoporosis, HIV, transplanted patients, etc: Patients with periodontitis who, moreover, do not keep their conditions in control, have a greater risk of the periodontal disease becoming aggressive, as it alters the metabolic disorder that characterizes diabetes.

Hormonal changes in women (pregnancy and menopause): The alteration of the hormonal system, produced in pregnancy or puberty or during menopause, contribute to the environment favorable to bacteria.

Seals, prosthetics, crowns and bridges in poor condition: Defective or very old dental treatments can also sometimes favor food retention and plaque growth.

Teeth in a bad position: Teeth that maintain rotations, projections or poor alignment favor the retention of food and the growth of bacterial plaque.

WARNING SIGNS

  • Gingival bleeding.
  • Bad breath.
  • Dental hypersensitivity.
  • Mobility or separation in the teeth.
  • Longer teeth or retraction of the gum.
  • Tooth loss

FIRST SYMPTOMS

  • Bleeding gums.
  • Inflammation or redness resulting from such inflammation.
  • Increased volume caused by edema.
  • The recession of the gingiva, which can be caused by periodontitis, by too brushed continuous brushing or by very hard brushes or caries, prosthetics, crowns and bridges in poor condition and close to the gingiva (which may favor food retention and The growth of bacterial plaque). This stage of the disease is called GINGIVITIS. It is a reversible process, which if not receiving the appropriate treatment would progress towards periodontal disease.

Consequences:

The bacteria cause such deterioration that causes the teeth to lose the support that holds them in place and over time, they may fall, which is the worst consequence of Periodontitis. Untreated periodontitis can lead to extreme cases, where the person loses all their dental pieces.

Other consequences of this disease are:

  • Aggravate cardiovascular diseases, increasing the risk of suffering heart attacks.
  • Aggravate diabetes, since chronic inflammations tend to decompensate the metabolism of diabetics.
  • Pregnant women are at risk for babies with low neonatal weight.
  • Halitosis (bad breath).
  • Tartar.
  • Aesthetic problems due to tooth decay, color change and the presence of tartar, loss of the normal contour of the gingiva.

Periodontal Solutions

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, give us a call as soon as possible. During your scheduled appointment, we can diagnose the source of the symptoms help restore your gums to pink and healthy. We can also arm you with important techniques to improve your oral hygiene, prevent gum disease, and help you keep your smile beautiful.

If a patient has been through periodontal care with a specialist or has had our hygienist clean under the gum tissue and along with the roots of teeth, having a cleaning twice per year is usually not sufficient enough to keep that patient out of trouble.

The Dentists at Cute Smile will suggest which re-care interval is best for you: every 6 months, 4 months, or 3 months.

In those cases where attention has not been given in time and most of the teeth have been lost or are highly compromised, we recommend the placement of IMPLANTS to rehabilitate and have an adequate function.

This should be done once the periodontal disease process has stabilized and/or stopped, never before.
